How do I save articles to read later?

Answer

So you’re in the library gathering information, but you can’t delve into it looking for your quotes or evidence now.  So you’re going to have to know how to access these articles later.  In the library databases, there are several convenient ways to be able to save your articles and books for later. Most of these will be located along the right hand side of the item page or the Full text article. Using the numbered codes will refer you to each instruction:

  1. Folder: This adds the article to a personalized EBSCOhost folder in an account that you have set up separately with EBSCO.  (Instructions on how to do this here: https://egcc.libanswers.com/faq/305309 ).  You just have to be signed in to your account in order to save to your account beyond the current session. Other platforms have other personalized accounts that you might be prompted to create when clicking these links.
  2. Printing: simply printing from your computer or tablet to your printer could also be another method.
  3. Downloading: you can save the article for later by downloading it into your flash drive or hard drive
  4. Google Drive: You can save this into your Google drive by clicking the indicated icon and it will direct you to allow access to your Google account (your EGCC email is Google powered). Just follow the instructions for setting up that feature in the dialog boxes.
  5. Email: After clicking this and filling out a short form, the information can be sent to the email of your choice.
  6. Permalink: by clicking this it creates a permalink which you can copy and paste into a Word document or an email.  Just make sure you’ve made it clickable for later. This may also work best for when you have to place a URL for your Work's Cited or Reference page. Address bar URLs are session specific and it you try to use those to get back to your resource, you will not be able to. Permalinks are the only links that will work.

E-book screens it looks a little different: just be careful using the save and print options as those sometimes are limited for copyright. Not all of the platforms have the same options or functionality but most have some variation of the ones above
