If you are struggling with writing or if it has been a while since you last wrote the a research paper the library has some resources that may help. The Library subscribes to a fantastic resource that can reinforce your writing skills that is called Gale Presents: Peterson's Test and Career Prep.
How to Get to Peterson's:
- Navigate to Peterson's - Current students please see this FAQ: https://egcc.libanswers.com/faq/357503 - Alumni see this FAQ: https://egcc.libanswers.com/faq/387505
- Follow the directions in the above FAQ and create a Peterson's profile and login to save your progress.
- Navigate to the Improve Your Score tile.
- Click on Foundational Skills.
- Choose the Basic Skills for English & Writing Tutorials tile (see image).
- Scroll down and select the Writing Skills tile (see image).
- Select and begin the appropriate lesson module (see image). Modules include effective style, essay writing, organizing and developing ideas, persuasive writing and putting it all together (Five Step Method). You may take the lessons out of order and you are not required to complete them all.
As you complete the lessons Peterson's will display your overall progress and provide you with a score when applicable. You may repeat the lessons as often as you need.
