How do I cite cases? What is (or how do I get) Blue Book?

How do I cite cases? What is the Blue Book?

Answer

Bluebook is the commonly used citation style for those in the legal profession. If you need to know how to create the citation using bluebook, you can go to https://www.law.cornell.edu/citation/2-900 and follow the instructions for how to cite specific resources. You can go to the Purdue Owl for help for Bluebook citation help as well.

While working in Nexis Uni, the citation generator in the database can be used to select a citation format and copy the citation to the clipboard. Find your case and click on it to select it.

At the top of the page, click on Export Citation.

Select the format for the citation and click on Copy to Clipboard or copy and paste the citation yourself directly into your document.

Unfortunately, the Library does not have access to the online version of the Bluebook as institutional licenses are not available. Individuals may purchase their own subscription by visiting the Bluebook's website: https://www.legalbluebook.com/
