What is Self-Plagiarism?

Answer

Self-Plagiarism:

Self-Plagiarism is the act of using or submitting as new a previously submitted work for a new assignment or the act of submitting a single work for two different assignments without prior permission.

Why is Self-Plagiarism Unethical?

Self-plagiarism is unethical due to the fact that a writer is attempting to pass a previously written work as a new or original work. With few exceptions, course assignments require students to turn in new, original work in order to receive credit for that assignment. Students who turn in past work for new assignments or a single work for multiple assignments are essentially trying to receive credit from multiple places for a single work.
