I have to find a journal article for sociology that uses qualitative and/or quantitative research methods. Can you help me?

Answer

First, you will want to pick a topic in social work or sociology.  You will also want to have a good understanding of what these methods are.  This guide will help you: Research Methodology.

Go to the Library Main Page and click on the A-Z database:

Then click the "S" in the alphabetical listing on the page that shows up:

Then pick either the Sociological Collection or SocINDEX databases.

If you have not been in the student portal recently, it will ask you to log in using those credentials.  If you have been or are now logged into your student portal, it will bypass that step and go straight to the search screen.   Once you're into the database, follow the instructions on the screenshot below.  However, you must pick a topic first.  Pick a topic that interests you.

Once you get to the results screen, you will want to skim through a few articles to see if the article best matches the use of said research method.  It will not scream out at you by the title or the abstract.

If you are still having trouble finding an article using a particular research method, you can try adding words about the research methods to your search. To find qualitative research studies, try adding words like "focus group," "interviews," or "qualitative." For quantitative research studies, you could add words to your search such as "survey," "experiment," or "quantitative."
