Turnitin is a resource students and faculty can use to check a student's paper to ensure the originality of writing. You will still need to submit your work in Canvas after using this tool. 

PLEASE NOTE: Turnitin Draft Coach only works in a new blank document. It also only works if you are logged into to your EGCC student email account.

1. To access Turnitin, first login to the Student Portal by clicking on the Gateway Student Portal link in the top right of any EGCC webpage. 

2. Select the My Email icon.

3. Click on the Google Apps grid icon and then click on the Docs icon. 

4. Once you have created a new document in Google Docs, go to the Add-ons tab and click on Turnitin Draft Coach.

5. A sidebar will open on the right. To use Turnitin Draft Coach, you might need to check the box in front of “I agree to the terms and conditions.” Choose Continue to Draft Coach. When a paper has been typed and is ready to be checked, choose Similarity Check, then Go to Similarity on the right.

6. The next page will display Choose Run Similarity Check. Draft Coach allows 3 Similarity Checks on a paper. It will display which of the 3 similarity checks are being used and how many are left. To use one of the checks, choose Confirm.

7. Once you have run your similarity report, you will need to interpret the results. The results will show the percentage in the Turnitin panel on the right. Clicking on the individual results will show where the information was found.
