Why can't I read anything when I do research in the library, everything seems unavailable to me?

Answer

What we suspect is that you need to select a full text option.  In the library databases, there are some sources that can't be read because they exist in physical form, like books or physical journal articles.  Also there are some articles that pop up in a search which, though digital, the EGCC doesn't have access to. Therefore, in order to ensure that you can digitally access the research needed, we suggest you choose full text for most forms of research. (Exceptions being if you're a local in-seat student and want a physical book).

Here are the two ways for you to ensure you have that full text abilities.

1) If you are on the Gateway Search Screen.  Merely click the Full Text box, like this:

2) If you've already hit search, but realize that you didn't click full text.  On the left hand side of the screen are a whole host of limiters, under the first list "Limit To" click the Full Text option box.  It will automatically update that list for you.  The limiter area looks a little like this.

Hopefully this helps.
