Faculty now have the ability to embed a Library LibGuide, a page from a LibGuide, or even a single content item from a LibGuide into their Canvas course. 

Step One: Add item to your Canvas Module

In your module where you would like to add the Gateway Search content, go to the module navigation bar and click the "+" to an item to your canvas module. 

Step Two: Choose "External Tool" from the list of item options. 

Select "External Tool" from the bottom of the list and then click the blue "Add Item" button in the lower right corner.

Step Three: Select LibApps Library Content

Select "LibApps Library Content" from the list of available external tools and click the blue "Add Item" button in the lower right corner. 

Step Four: Select LibGuides Site

Choose EGCC Libguides - egcc.libguides.com

Step Five: Choose Content Type

There are a variety of options to available on the list. However, the library recommends that Faculty choose from Full LibGuide, which will display an entire guide, Single Page, which will display a single page from a guide, or Content Box, which displays a single box, from a page in a LibGuide.

Step Six: Choose Desired LibGuide 

Choose your desired guide from the list. Guides will be listed Alphabetically. If you know the name of the guide you want, you can also search for it using the search box. 

Step Seven: Select Optional Landing Page and Embed Content

Once you have chosen the guide, you are given the option to choose a landing page. If you do not choose a page, the guide's default page will be chosen. Once you are done choosing your settings, click on the blue "Embed Content" button in the lower left corner. 

Step 8: Verify Guide and Publish Guide 

Your guide will now be listed in the Canvas module. Be sure to publish the guide so that your students will be able to see the resource. Verify that the guide works properly by clicking on the guide tile. 

Click on the "View Content" link to see the guide as the students would see it. Alternatively, you can use the "Student View" on the course homepage to also preview the guide. 

The Guide will display as your students will see it. If a guide has multiple pages, the Guide's navigation will display.
